Jnantik Chai Latte, an Immune Boosting, Caffeine-Free Alternative to Traditional Chai
Fall is here! This delicious Jnantik Chai Latte is the perfect beverage to accompany a cool Autumn day or night. This spin on traditional chai uses Maya Seed instead of black tea for a spin on “dirty” chai (which typically includes espresso). With spices like cinnamon, cardamom and ginger, you are sipping on a delicious hot beverage that is soothing your nerves and boosting your immunity all in one!
Yield: Serves 3
Ingredients:
1 cinnamon stick
3-4 slices of fresh ginger
The following three ingredients based on taste preference and availability:
3 pods of cardamom
5 whole cloves
1 teaspoon of black peppercorns
3 cups of cold water
1 tablespoon of Jnantik Maya Seed Coffee Alternative
1 cup of milk of choice (I used coconut)
1 tablespoon of maple syrup or more depending on desired sweetness (OPTIONAL)
Preparation
Combine the first 5 ingredients in a medium saucepan. Lightly crush the spices, especially to break cardamom pods. Add 3 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and led simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Add Maya Seed and let steep 5 minutes. Add milk and maple syrup, strain into teapot and enjoy. If you have leftovers, enjoy iced the next day!
